Improving and nurturing mathematical education for all

The Scottish Mathematical Council is a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting the teaching, learning and appreciation of mathematics in Scotland.

Our annual conference

The SMC conference is a major event in the school year, typically attracting 300-400 teachers with between 20 and 30 workshops on offer. It also serves as a social gathering at which teachers can meet and network with colleagues from other parts of the country.

The 2026 conference will be held on Saturday 16th May at Stirling University.

The opening keynote, Scotland’s Mathematics Curriculum: Shaping the Future Together will be delivered by Andy Brown, National Specialist Mathematics Adviser.
