We are thrilled to learn that SMC Chair, Dr Chris Pritchard has been appointed OBE in the New Year’s Honours List. The citation reads:
Chair, Scottish Mathematical Council; Secretary, James Clerk Maxwell Foundation and lately President of The Mathematical Association. For services to Mathematics Education.

It is also pleasing to see that Carol Copstick is also to receive an OBE. Carol is a former Primary School Headteacher and QIO at Glasgow City who has since moved up through Education Scotland to head up the Inspection Service. Carol is a former Observer Member of the Scottish Mathematical Council.
